Contributing to cannabis’s acceptance, celebrities have become increasingly vocal in their support of cannabis in recent years. From actors to rappers to athletes, celebrities are opening up about their personal consumption of cannabis and speaking out about cannabis legalization. 

Why Are Celebs Supporting Weed Legalization?

There are several reasons why celebrities are supporting cannabis legalization. Some see it as a matter of personal freedom and responsibility. Others extol the health benefits of cannabis products. Many see it as an opportunity for economic growth; legal cannabis businesses could bring in much-needed jobs and tax revenue. 

According to analytics company BDSA, global cannabis sales in 2020 increased by 48 percent from the previous year, with sales expected to reach $55.9 billion by 2026. Legal cannabis sales in the United States surpassed $17.5 billion in 2020 and are expected to reach $41.3 billion in 2026. 

The market has been buoyed by the introduction of innovative products like hemp-derived THC drinks and high-potency edibles. Many of these new products capitalize on wellness trends, emphasizing the health benefits of cannabinoids.
